I never get tired of photographing beaches. I previously posted a photo from this night in Playacar. I have many more but this was one of my favorites. On this one, I really liked the striking moon and how it came down and brushed its light over the water. Click photo for a big surprise

 Way down in old Mexico in the state of Oaxaca is the town of Santa Ana Tlapacoyan. Here is your typical old Mexican town where time seems like it has stood still. Many of these old towns tend to be very similar. They have only one entrance into town and they usually have their little plaza right in the center of town. And while most folks live in humble homes, the most ornate building will most likely be the town church. I took this photo on my evening walk. There was a warm glow emanating from within inviting all to enter. I just took the photo and kept walking. There was some hot chocolate waiting for me at my destination.  You know which are the best kind of friends to have? The ones that call you on a Thursday afternoon and say “Want to go down to Rosarito? It’s just going to be a couple of guys, hanging out and having a drink.” The only sensible answer is “Heck yea!” This is my buddy Gerardo thanking the heavens for the glorious sunset. The Capital building of Havana towers over the nearby streets and residential buildings. It was modeled after the US Capitol and was the center of government from its construction in 1928 until the Cuban revolution of 1959. Since then it has been used as the Ministry of Science and Technology. Although, I have to admit that the few times I have been to Cuba and wanted to take a tour inside, it was always closed. Oh well, I’ll just have to go back and try again. Click photo for a big surprise

This is one of my favorite California beaches. If you are looking for a nice place to enjoy a California sunset, you can’t go wrong with La Jolla. The waves come thundering in and crash against the rocks while you enjoy the warm hues of the setting sun. This group of guys were standing on the edge of the rock and I thought they were going to be swept away by a giant wave. They were tossing a frisbee back and forth and one of them was even strumming a ukelele. Only in California. Click photo for a big surprise

It is considered the most significant cultural center in all of Mexico. Outside you can admire the art nouveau architecture while inside you can gaze upon wonderful murals by Diego Rivera, David Siquieros and Jose Orozco. Check the schedule and you just might luck out and catch an art exhibit or a concert by the famed Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. Then when you are all done, go for a stroll next door at the recently renovated Alameda Central park. Have an ice cream while you see all the kids playing near the lovely fountains. About 10km East of Oaxaca is the little town of Santa Maria del Tule. On the grounds of the local church is a 2,000 year old tree that has generated many legends. Known as the “Arbol del Tule”, the Zapotecs believe that it was originally planted by the Aztec god of rain. It measures an incredible 138 ft. in circumference. Wow, that’s like 30 people holding hands together around the tree. With its bark and branches contorting this way and that, locals have come to find different characters between its limbs. There is the deer, the jaguar, the elephant, the owl, and the hobbit house among others. Look at it closely and see how many you can spot. Click photo for a big surprise

Amazing ! If you ever want to see the crazy LA traffic up close and personal, head to downtown. This is the 4th Street overpass with the OneTen freeway running below. While it’s technically the OneHundredTen (110) freeway, in California we never refer to them by their actual numerical name. That is why the FourHundredFive (405) is referred to as the Four-O-Five. And you also have the TwoTen, the SevenTen, the Six-O-Five. Then there is the One-O-One (101). Notice how it’s not even called the One-Zero-One? Seriously, who came up with these names?? Sometimes I like to mess around and convert my photos to Black & White and see what the […] No, I did not travel back in time to 1955 to get this shot. Truth is, you can probably witness this scene pretty much every day in Havana. These classic cars are in pristine condition and being driven everywhere. I actually think you will find them in much better condition in the smaller towns outside Havana. But if you want to see them yourself, you better get down there fast. Big changes are happening. I believe there will soon come a day when these classic cars are no longer cruising down the boulevard because they will be purchased and shipped off to car collectors in the USA. Then we will look at photos like this one and nostalgically remember what Havana was like in 2012. Click photo for a big surprise
